About Me

Hi! I thought I would give you a little background information about myself. I am a product of almost a complete Catholic school background. I graduated from Corpus Christi School in Wethersfield, Mercy High School in Middletown, attended Boston College for one year, and graduated from Providence College in Rhode Island with a BS in Biology.

My route to teaching has been an indirect one. After graduation, I worked in Biochemistry research for three years at the University of Connecticut Health Center. I then took a year off, attended, and graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Allied Health with a degree as a Medical Technologist. I worked in the Microbiology lab of Hartford Hospital full-time until the birth of my children and then part-time. While there, I was asked to teach one of the courses that I had taken and discovered my love of teaching. I then completed my PreK-8 education certification at Central Connecticut State University. In 2009, I earned my MS in Special Education at Central Connecticut State University. In 2015, I earned my Catholic School Leadership Certification through Creighton University.

I taught preschool for 7 years at St. James Nursery School in Rocky Hill, along with various grade levels of substitute teaching, prior to coming to St. Mary School in 1999 where I was the First Grade teacher (except for teaching an 8th grade literature course 2007-2008) until June 2012. I am amazed to realize that my first class at St. Mary's will now be seniors in college for the 2014-2015 school year. After 13 years in First Grade, I began a new chapter in my teaching career, for the past two years, as the Fourth Grade teacher as well as teaching Religion to Third Grade. As St. Mary School moved to a multi-age format in 2014-2015, I became the Upper Primary Learning Level teacher. I continued in that position in 2015-2016 and was also named Head Teacher. With the closing of St. Mary School on August 17, 2016, after 17 years at the school, I began a new teaching chapter at St. Brigid - St. Augustine Partnership School as its Third Grade teacher.

I have two children - my daughter Kimberly works part-time as a nanny and my son Kevin earned his MA in Political Science in 2010 at UConn and is currently working on his Political Science doctoral dissertation in its PhD program while teaching as an adjunct history professor at Goodwin College. As my classes come to learn quickly, I use a lot of baseball references and, to the chagrin of many, I am a Yankees fan! I am also pleased to add that I am the proud Grandma of TJ (Thomas Joseph) born on April 16, 2015!
